This week's blog prompt comes from the lovely and talented Susan Scott Shelley - Given the choice of any authors in the world (living or deceased), who would you want as a guest? Welcome to my blog! If you've hopped over from the amazing Juliette Cross, I'm so glad you made the jump. If you missed her, make sure to visit her! This is one hard question. as I am fanatical about certain authors. I adore Nora Roberts, especially these series: the Bride Quartet, the Cousins O'Dwyer, the Sign of Seven trilogy, Three Sisters Island trilogy, and the Born In trilogy. But the series that made me cry was the Chesapeake Bay Saga. Each of the brothers is broken but the family ties that bind strengthen them. Then again, I love Brad Thor. Rather his novels. Adventure, espionage, conspiracy, terrorism, black ops, his books have it all! Scot Harvath, former Navy SEAL, a man who consistently risks life and limb in defense of the United States, defines sexy patriotism. You know how some people buy hardbacks and refuse to let them go, even when the bookcase is overflowing? Yeah, that's me about Thor's books. But I think I have to choose Clive Cussler for the three series he writes (and co-writes): the Dirk Pitt novels, the NUMA Files, and the Oregon Files. I imagine dining at a mom-and-pop relaxed seafood place in Arlington or the Keys, discussing ocean conservation which is clearly near and dear to his heart. Maybe diving one of the wrecks the next day. Many of his conflicts center around his heroes working to prevent an environmental disaster. He also weaves in nautical history in such a spellbinding manner that I wish he'd been my history teacher. Fascinating! The Oregon Files cast are mercenaries with a strong moral code handling sticky issues on behalf of the US. I doubt however that I would tell Mr. Cussler that I have fantasized romantically about Kurt Austin, his hero from the NUMA Files. Sexy, tough, fearless, smart, educated, he is like a environmental superhero. I know, I sound all fangirl but he is the ideal man. So I would dine with his creator! And our repast? I think broiled fish, shrimp and mussels or lobster with a bottle of chardonnay. Maybe I'll convince him to take me for a ride in one of his antique cars while he shares the inspiration for his stories. Thank you for stopping in. Feel free to visit anytime! Please head on over to the exceptional Eden Ashe for her choice of dinner guest.

Great choices for dinner guests, Carolyn. I'm afraid I was very "old school" in my choice. :) 9/8/2015 10:18:43 pm
Nice! Clive Cussler would definitely be a great dinner companion - or maybe I'd rather have his hero, Dirk. I always picture him as a pretty cool dude. And nice meal - makes me hungry!
