Thanks for making your way from S. C. Mitchell's blog. Romance Weekly's Authors answer questions about serious and non-so-serious aspects of writing. Enjoy! 1. How do you respond to someone calling your writing smut or demeaning your work in some other way? I disregard any negativity. I simply don't internalize it because I will never please everyone all the time. I will write what is authentic to me and hope that others enjoy the ride. 2. When critiquing or beta reading, do you ever find the voice of the other author creeping into your writing? Thankfully, no. The members of my critique group each have such distinct voices. I love their writing in great part because each is so different from mine. 3. What’s one quirky thing you do or must have around you while writing? Special pens. Even though I usually my manuscripts, I always have pens and pretty notebooks for jotting down ideas or scenes that need work. My favorite are Tul needle point pens. Don't even think about touching my pens! Don't stop now, keep on hopping to the next author of red hot, spicy and sexy romances, Dani Jace. 6/24/2014 07:35:53 am
I use boring pens, because I always lose them. Notebooks, however, are an addiction for me. I love fancy small notebooks I can leave in my pocketbook to take notes.

I like pretty notebooks, too. I just got a leather one with the aged edges and a tie to close it to write spells and potions in for one of my books. It's a tangible inspiration that provides true sensory experience! I'm a geek!

I tend to buy a multipack and am stingy with whom I share. Then, I watch them like an eagle to make sure I get them back.

Yes! Must have my pens too, especially at workshops and conferences . Usually match them to my outfits and nail polish!

What's wrong with that? 6/24/2014 03:19:46 pm
I too love my pens and notebooks, even though I write on my computer. I use fountain pens, fine tip, brown ink. :) But enough about me. I love your no negativity vibe. I try to be that way, but it's difficult sometimes. Good on ya'.

I'm the same with pens and notebooks. I can usually work around with any pen, but I am really freaky when it comes to my notebooks. I write all my books by hand first, so I am a huge stickler for certain ones.

A great way to guarantee a thorough second edit if you have to type it in. I love the way the words feel flowing out of the pen, taking shape on the paper. Sadly, I need the speed of the keyboard to get it done. Just not the same. 6/25/2014 07:16:03 am
LMFAO another pen lover! I'm in heaven. Every time we go out and there are pens to buy, I have to get some, I'm constantly in search for the best pen ever. I have a favorite right now but they keep going missing and I am nutty when they go missing. I feel you woman. Awesome answers this week Carolyn! Comments are closed.
